Thursday Notes

FLACCO NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ravens rookie QB Joe Flacco passed for 248 yards and two touchdowns in the team’s 37-27 win over Cleveland and was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week. Last week, Flacco was named the Rookie of the Week for performance against the Oakland Raiders.

NFL THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL: Tonight Brady Quinn makes his NFL Debut as he and the Cleveland Browns host the Denver Broncos, who have won seven in a row against the Browns and lead the series, 19-5, including the playoffs. I am excited that these Thursday night NFL games are back. And I’m even happier that NFL Network got rid of Bryant Gumbel. He was by far the worst play by play in all of television last year.

NCAA THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL: Over on ESPN, Maryland heads to Blacksburg to take on Virginia Tech, kickoff is set for 7:30. In an interesting note, the Terps are one of only two teams in the country (along with Texas) to defeat three top 25 teams this season.
